La fisuración en pavimentos asfálticos y sus mecanismos de deterioro

Los deterioros por fisuración en las estructuras de pavimentos asfálticos son los más frecuentes en los fallos presen-tados en las carreteras, y las causas que los originan son diversas. Por ello, este artículo tiene por objetivo entregar una revisión del contexto en el que se enmarca este tipo de fallo, presentando los agentes causantes de este tipo de deterioro, sus tipologías, los diferentes enfoques utilizados para su representación y análisis, y los mecanismos de fisuración observados en las capas asfálticas. Además se efectúa un análisis de los procedimientos experimentales desarrollados que actualmente se utilizan para evaluar propiedades vinculadas a la resistencia a fisuración en las mezclas asfálticas. Finalmente se presenta un nuevo procedimiento desarrollado por el Laboratorio de Caminos de la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (España) para evaluar los mecanismos de fisuración en este material.
