Los elementos de reemplazo de tuberías (ERTs) son un enfoque útil en el análisis de flujo transitorio en redes de tuberías complejas que contienen tuberías muy cortas que restringen el paso de tiempo computacional en la etapa de discretización. A menudo es necesario reemplazar estos elementos relativamente cortos por una representación matemática que permita remodelar la discretización del dominio, lo que permite utilizar un paso de tiempo mayor, reduciendo así el uso de recursos computacionales.
