Leadership Attributes among Project Managers: A Review from Performance and Uncertainty in Building Remodeling Projects.
Keywords:
Project Manager, Leadership, Building remodeling, Performance, UncertaintyAbstract
Project managers face constant challenges and problems, especially in the construction industry, for example, stress, uncertainty, motivation, effective communication, leadership styles, among others. Furthermore, leaders are under constant pressure to further develop their skills to handle uncertain situations and improve overall project performance, where this has led to a high turnover of project managers in many organizations. On the other hand, remodeling projects are very different from new building projects, since the key characteristics associated with remodeling projects are unique, risky, highly complex and with a high level of uncertainty throughout the project life cycle. This research aims to identify potential leadership qualities among managers of building remodeling projects. In addition, the relationships between uncertainty factors and the performance of remodeling projects will be determined based on leadership qualities. To achieve this objective, an exhaustive bibliographic search was carried out, proposing a research model that serves as the basis for a broader investigation of leadership qualities among project managers, in order to efficiently manage uncertainties and improve the performance of building remodeling projects.
