Interlagos Network and The Scenic Route of Lakes and Volcanoes

In the southern zone of Chile, at the foot of the Andes Mountains in the Araucanía, Los Ríos, and Los Lagos regions, there is a vast stretch of over 400 km long, characterized by a unique combination of climate, landscape, and natural resources that make it unlike any other in our country. These natural attributes are rare to find in other places on the planet, particularly in the southern hemisphere: on the Argentine side of the Andes, in southern Australia (Tasmania), and in New Zealand. However, what gives this interlaced lake area its unique identity, in symbiosis with its natural attractions, is the distinct culture of southern Chile. In this context, the present Investment Plan for the Interlagos Network was proposed, conceived as an interregional infrastructure project aimed at providing the necessary road infrastructure to enhance connectivity and promote the productive development of the local, mainly touristic economies of the Southern Macrozone of the country. This objective seeks to boost other ventures, both public and private, towards further development of this territory. By analyzing project portfolios and prioritizing strategic initiatives to ensure the connectivity of the Network, the implementation of a specific evaluation model for the Interlagos Plan was achieved. This resulted in the evaluation of roads as a network rather than segment by segment. This approach allowed for the optimization of initiatives with low profitability, which, when considered collectively, benefited from segments with high profitability.
