Abstract

In this article, in a first instance, a panorama will be offered of Indo-american languages currently shaping the linguistic configuration of Peru. The ways in which mobility and the contact between populations are accompanied by mobility and contact between linguistic resources will be examined. Secondly, based on this panorama, elements for a discussion of language contact will be proposed. Three notions that are of particular interest in the analysis of language contact will be highlighted: mobilities, connexions and configurations.  In conclusion, these notions will provide a series of theoretical propositions which invite a rethinking of language, languages, and contact as a dynamic process rather than as established results.

Key words. Language contact, social history of languages, Indo-american languages, Andean languages, Amazonian languages.
