About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal Revista de Lenguas y Literatura Indoamericanas RLLI (ISSN (e) 2735-6612) –formerly Revista de Lengua y Literatura Mapuche– is an electronic publication of the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication of Universidad de La Frontera, Temuco, Chile. The journal has inherited the tradition formulated by the Mapuche Language and Literature Journal (ISSN printed 0716-6869), a specialized publication that had been dedicated to researching the Mapuche language, literature and culture since 1984. The RLLI Journal broadens the scope of these studies and aims to become a space for discussion and dissemination of research and critical reflection on ancestral Indigenous American cultures.  The journal also contemplates Indigenous American cultures in a situation of cultural contact over a vast geographic area spanning from Canada in the north to Tierra del Fuego in the south.

Our Journal focuses on studies related to the languages and literature of the Indigenous American peoples and related topics. Its scope involves research on linguistics, literature, intercultural communication, discourse studies, intercultural education, and ethnography.

The RLLI Journal  (ISSN (e) 2735-6612) is a peer-reviewed journal that has a Scientific Committee and Editorial Board of international standing, publishes a plenary call for papers by invitation, unpublished scientific articles -resulting from research projects or other original and significant research in the above noted field of studies, book reviews, (research) notes and interviews. Until 2020, the Journal published one volume and one number per year, from 2021 we will publish a volume with two annual numbers.
