Abstract

This work proposes an analysis of transfer clausal connectives from Spanish to indigenous languages. The analysis highlights behavioral differences of four languages of the same family that also share different cultural, social, political and geographical aspects. The explanation that is encouraged considers sociolinguistic aspects related to the sense of identity of speakers or the expectations that they have themselves to be accepted by speakers of Spanish.

Keywords. Contact-induced change, interclausal connectives, lexical transfer, resistance, Uto-Aztecan languages
